CBE Secretary Fr. Wilson Vitus D’Souza completes 40 years of priesthood

Mangalore, Mar 14: Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, and the Catholic Board of Education (CBE) jointly organized a programme to celebrate CBE Secretary Fr. Wilson Vitus D’Souza’s 40th year as a priest. More than 250 leaders of Catholic colleges, high schools, and primary schools participated in this event, which was held at Shanthi Kiran Bajjodi.

Dr. Clarence Miranda delivered the keynote address in which he spoke about the various virtues of Fr. Wilson and his great contributions to social welfare. As a special tribute to Fr. Wilson D’Souza, a huge bouquet of flowers bearing the number 40 was presented to him by W. D’ Souza, who represented the primary schools; Bridget Periera, who represented the high schools; Fr. Alwyn Serrao, who represented the colleges; and Gretta Lobo, who represented the CBE office. The four walked up to Fr. Wilson with the floral tribute in a procession led by the bishop.

In his address, Fr. Wilson expressed gratefulness to many who served as his role models and supported the good work done by the CBE.

Advocate M. P. Noronha and social activist Rita Noronha were the dignitaries on the dais. The programme was conducted by Aloysius D’Souza, the headmaster of Rosario High School.

Fr. Wilson completed his 40th year as a priest on Dec 25, 2010. Born on June 15, 1945, he completed his schooling in Kirem and joined St. Joseph’s Seminary Jeppu in 1962. He was ordained in 1970 at Kinnigoli and served in various capacities. He has to his credit an MA in political science, an MA in sociology, and an MA in public administration. He completed his advanced course in education at St. Thomas Aquinas College in New York in 1998, after which he served in several parishes. He is also a member coordinator of NAAC.
