Mangaluru Sep 14, 2016: CAMPCO unveiled its brand new delicious Dark Tan chocolate at CAMPCO head office today September 14, Wednesday. Dark Tan is the new variety of Chocolate of the CAMPCO made from Vegetable fat and natural cocoa powder.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of Central Plantation Crops Research Institute Chaudappa said that, cocoa is mainly grown in West Africa but the productivity is declined due to various factors. But in India cocoa does not need additional land, water or labour as it is grown as mixed crops, he said.
Farmers are distressed, but by growing cocoa it can boost farmers to double their income. India can emerge as global leaders in production of cocoa by means of quality and production, said Chaudappa.
Chaudappa complimented CAMPCO for targeting rural population and unveiling Dark Tan chocolate with health benefits as it has the essence of Dark Chocolate and is rich in cocoa.
CAMPCO recorded annual turnover of Rs 1591 crore in the year 2015-16 and it is a record turnover since 43 years of CAMPCO’s business, said SR Sathish Chandra CAMPCO President.
Soon CAMPCO Ltd will be digitalized and will be Digital CAMPCO, he added.The Dark Tan is a moulded proprietary product produced by an adequate manufacturing process of mixing, refining, tempering, and moulding of a homogeneous mass of very fine particle size to get a mellow taste containing rich cocoa of Indian origin, he said.
