Mangaluru, March 1, 2020: Noted social activist Teesta Setalvad has said that the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act conspired to convert one section of people as second class citizens.
Addressing a seminar on Contemporary Challenges at Roshni Nilaya on March 1, Sunday, she said according to a survey only 58% of people of this nation had birth certificates. "Of the around 40 crore workers in the unorganised sector most do not have proper documents. There seems to be a ploy to create two sections of people and provide governemnt facilties only to one section while making the other section as second class citizens," she said.
She said the assurance that no one would be affected by the Act was wrong.
Social activist Vidya Dinaker and others were present.
