Kundapur, July 15, 2015: As many as 19 buffaloes which were crammed inside a truck at Navunda, all set to be transported to an illegal butchery in Kerala were rescued by the Byndoor police during the early hours of July 15, Wednesday. The accused including one Jaleel however managed to give the cops a slip.
The buffaloes and the vehicle, totally valued at Rs 8 lakh. Sources said the house of the main accused was located close by the petrol bunk at Navunda where the vehicle was spotted. Police also noticed that the accused had tied the necks and legs of the buffaloes in an inhuman way.
The tired animals were later taken to the station where they were offered fodder and water.
Search for the absconding accused is underway.
