Bunts-Nadavara Mathru Sangha honored various achievers

The Bunts/Nadavara Mathru Sangha honored various achievers in the Bunt community on Thursday on the occasion of its annual public meet. S. Chandrashekar Shetty, the vice chancellor of D. Devaraj Urs University College in Kolar, honored the achievers.

The top achievers who were honored at the occasion were Vinay Hedge of Nitte Educational Institutions; Kalatthur Shekhar Babu Shetty of Abu Dhabi; Mohan Alva of Alva’s Educational Foundation in Moodubidri; and H. P.C Shetty, the pioneer in fishery education and research.

Many bunts were honored with a gold medal for making significant contributions in various fields. H. S. Ballal, Hurladi Raghuvir A. Shetty, Vishnu Shetty Ambalapady received honors for social service; Y. Sanath Hegde and M. Shantharam Shetty for medicine; Santhosh Rai and P. Gopalakrishna Bandy for agriculture; Rakesh Malli for horticulture; Krishna Y. Shetty for hotel management; K. Balakrishna Hegde and Saubhagyalakshmi for sports, and Kudi Vasanth Shetty for teaching.

The association’s honorary secretary said that the association has given away cash prizes worth Rs. 21.76 lakh for poor, but deserving students, who had secured more than 60 percent in the examinations of 2008 -09.
