Mangalore, Sep 4: The Bunts Hostel Sarvajanika Shri Ganeshotsava Samithi, which had installed and worshipped an attractive idol of Lord Ganesha, finally immersed the idol after taking it in a grand procession on September 3, Saturday.

The colorful procession featured Chende players from Kerala, devotees singing bhajans along the way, and others. The procession commenced at Bunts Hostel and ended at Venkataramana Lake, where the idol was immersed. 


The Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava featured a number of programmes throughout the day.


The celebrations commenced with a Prathakala Pooja at 8:00 a.m. after which a Mahagana Yaga with 1,008 coconuts was performed till 11:00 a.m. Later a Poornahuti, a Maha pooja, and distribution of Prasadam were held. Sarvajanika Annasantharpane was organized from 12:30 p.m.


Religious discourses were held at 3:30 p.m., during which Shri Rajashekarananda Swamiji and Shree Kshetra Vajradehi of Gurupur delivered spiritual messages. Meera Alva of Shree Rama Vidyalaya Kubanooru delivered a religious discourse. 


Narasimha Thanthri of Venkataramana Temple Car Street, R. K. Bhat of R. K. Group, entrepreneur Abdul Rauf Puttige, Bhasker K. of Canara Bank, Sheena Nalke, and T. Rajeeva Mendon of Jai Veeramaruthi Exercise School were felicitated. 


Malady Ajith Kumar Rai of Kodiagutthu, the president of the Global Bunts Unions, presided over the event. Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat, District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar; Jeevan Bhandary, the president of the Bunts Union; Kishore P. Rao, the MD of Kerala State Forest Development Corporation; Amarnath Shetty; Narayan Hegde; MLC Ganesh Karnik, Colonel N. S. Bhandary; Vijayanath Shetty, the authority of the Bhootanatheshwara Temple in Mijar; and DC Channappa Gowda were the chief guests.
