Mangaluru, Dec 22,2016: Speaking at the Dakshina Kannada district Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting here on Wednesday, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel took the NHAI officials to task for delaying the process of demolishing the buildings even after paying the compensation to the owners to facilitate the work on service road on the stretch. An official from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) stated that marking of the buildings has been completed, the buildings acquired to facilitate four-laning of the road work on NH 75 at BC Road will be demolished from December 26.

DK DC  Dr K G Jagadeesha said he would depute assistant commissioner and police personnel to the spot where the demolition drive would be taken up on Dec 26, Monday.

On the tardy progress of the four-laning of the NH, the MP said he would complain to the Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Nithin Gadkari on the lethargic attitude of the NHAI officials. The work on service road between Surathkal-BC Road has not been completed.

The NHAI official said the flyover at Pumpwell will be completed by June.  The girder work is in progress. The structure of the flyover at Thokkottu has been completed. The work on wall of the flyover towards Talapady is in progress. The land acquisition officer has already paid the compensation for the acquired land for the construction of wall of the flyover towards Mangaluru. The service road at Mulki is also incomplete.

Urban Development Cell project director said that 364 beneficiaries without toilet facilities have been identified in nine Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) barring Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and of which, 247 toilets have been constructed and the work on 106 toilets are in progress. Out of 181 wards in nine ULBs of the district, 98 wards have been declared as free from open defecation.

The remaining 138 wards would be declared as free from open defecation by December end. Under Swaccha Bharath Mission, the ULBs have received Rs 46.90 lakh, of which Rs 31.30 lakh has been utilised. MP directed the NHAI to construct toilets below the flyovers in Mangaluru.

Water projects : Executive engineer said that the trial run of the Malavoor multi-village drinking water has commenced from  Dec 20, Tuesday. The water supply would be commissioned by January end.  Eleven villages under seven gram panchayats will receive water supply once it is commissioned. On the other hand, the Kinnigoli multi-village drinking water scheme has been delayed owing to various season and is likely to be completed by March end.

DK DC Dr K G Jagadeesha directed the officials to develop available land in each gram panchayats as playgrounds using the funds under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

When the public are facing problems due to delay in the road work why to giver them a chance . give notice and go ahead. Because it is for the convenience of there is nothing wrong .

The four way road in some places are not yet complete National highways as there are sudden diversion in some places and it is risky
