Mangalore, Sep 12, 2011: The Veerarani Abbakka Utsava Committee and the Kannada and Cultural Department will jointly organize a book release ceremony as part of Abbakka Utsav at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Law College on September 17, Saturday at 4:00 p.m.


Speaking at a press release held today at Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, senior litterateur Amrutha Someshwar said that the book Abbakka Sankanthana will be released at the book release ceremony. The book has been edited by Prof. A. V. Navada, Dr. Vaman Nandavar, Dr. Shaila, Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, B. M. Rohini, M. Vasudev Rao, Abdul Azeez Haq, and D. N. Raghava, he added.

Revealing further details regarding the book, he said that it comprises 400 pages of details regarding the eight previous Abbakka Utasavas, along with introductions to various Abbakka Award winners, historical documents, and other interesting information. One-fourth of the pages of the book are colored, he said, adding that Dr. B. A. Vivek Rai has written the preface.

He also said that District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar will inaugurate the event and Dr. N. Vinaya Hegde, the chancellor of Nitte University, will preside. The book will be released by Dr. B. Jayashree, the senior theatre artiste. Dr. B. A. Vivek Rai, the visiting professor at Wurzburg University, Germany will thank the writers and Dr. Amrutha Someshwar will talk about the book.

The chief guests will be Deputy Speaker N. Yogesh Bhat, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Captain Ganesh Karnik, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy President Dr. Palthady Ramakrishna Achar, and Mayor Praveen Anchan, he said.
