Bhatkal’s lady SI quits over ’harassment’ by senior official

Mangalore Today News Network

Bhatkal,Aug 29, 2016  : Bhatkal city Police Station Sub-Inspector Revathi has submitted her resignation  reportedly in protest against harassment by a senior police official. Revathi is learnt to have tendered her resignation to Circle Inspector Suresh Nayak on August 28.

HarassmentHowever the lady SI has not named any officer in her resignation letter but has reportedly stated that she was subject to mental harassment while handling a case.

It may be recalled that Revathi was earlier suspended from service by Bhatkal SP Vamshi Krishna  after  one Mohsin who had lodged a complaint against six persons for threatening him,  complained with the SP that the  lady SI was wasting time  by seeking compromise rather than registering a complaint.

It is said Revathi had shown interest in ending the case through compromise by summoning both the parties for talks.

However, Revathi had claimed that she did not try  for a compromise but had summoned both the parties as part of investigation as  the complainant had  given a different statement with a senior officer. She also alleged that she was victimised for no fault of her.

The Revathi resignation case comes weeks after Kudligi DySP Anupama Shenoy had quit alleging harassment  from seniors.

Now, based on the complaint, two people Saleem and Amjad Kumta have been arrested.  A search is on for four others.

If they keep on resigning over Harassment when will this end? We have to take a stand and fight for the justice as every one has his or her own opinion in way of expressing.

If police themselves behave so what about the public. We usually lodge complaint to them if they themselves behave so rude and trouble. He is not worth being a police officer instead he can be a rowdy.

The action has to be taken on such officials. Because they do not have the right to harass the juniors.
