Moodbidri, Oct 27,2015: ’’The undue appeasement of Muslims by the state government is responsible for the murder of Hindu activists like Prashanth Poojary,’’ alleged Soorya Narayana, Regional Convenor of Karnataka, Andhra and Telangana regions of Bhajrang Dal.
He was speaking to reporters on October 26, Monday after visiting the residence of slain Bhajrang Dal activist Prashanth Poojary and consoling his family members.
Pointing out that all accused who have been so far arrested in the Prashanth Poojary murder case were Muslims, he deplored the silence of Muslim community leaders in this regard. ’’Their silence gives room for doubts as to whether they were indirectly backing such happenings," he said.
Expressing pleasure over the fact that the accused in the case have been arrested, he said though the state police have indicated that the accused were PFI activists, the silence of the Mangaluru police regarding the association to which the accused were linked to has surprised him.
Soorya Narayana also was highly critical of the State Human Rights Commission and questioned whether it was restricted to merely providing justice to minority communities. He also urged the Commission to visit Moodbidri and ensure justice to Prashanth Poojary family.
Demanding a ban on PFI, Soorya Narayana also urged the government to provide a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the family of Prashanth Poojary.
