Belthangady, Apr 06, 2016: Police have arrested one person in connection with the murder of Padmanabha Poojary (52) of Darbe in Bantwal Kasaba village near Maindakodi bus stand on April 3, Sunday. The accused identified as Sanjeeva Poojary of Koyyur has been arrested on Monday.
The deceased Padmanabha Poojary who worked in the plantation of Balakrishna Poojary since the past seven to eight years was waiting for the bus at the Maindakodi bus stand when the accused who was right there attacked him with a scythe killing him on the spot.
It is believed that a dispute over a pathway between the two had culminated in the murder. The accused lived just 75 meters away from the place where the murder took place. He is said to be an alcoholic and that none of his two wives therefore stayed with him.
The deceased Padmanabha is left behind by his wife and daughter.
