Belthangady, Nov 20, 2015 : Four car bound assailants who barged into the Belthangady police station on November 19, Thursday afternoon and threatened the police personnel, have been arrested.
A Swift car and the revolver used by the accused to threaten the cops, have been seized. Those arrested are Hassan residents Raganatha Bhat (46), Dayananda B (37), Ravi (40) and Belagavi resident Basavaraja Kodachi (27).
It has been alleged that the accused even abused the cops in foul language and one of them Dayananda claimed that he was the President of the Human Rights Federation and even produced an ID card to prove the same. He also said he knew top officials and even clicked photos of the cops. When head constable Lokanath opposed their move, the accused pushed him aside. An attempt was also made to assault another staff named Harish who tried to rescue Lokanath.
The chaos that prevailed in the station for several minutes ended after the revolver in Dayananda’s hands was somehow snatched.
Sources said Dayananda was under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place. Investigations are underway.
Unnecessarily they have invited trouble by threatening and making an attack on the police. To be ashamed of such acts. A stern action will be taken on them.
