Bantwal, Oct 18, 2014:  In a tragic incident, a young man   who had gone for swimming  in Netravathi river near Kaikunje along with his friends, has met a watery grave on October 17, Friday.

 

Mithun


The deceased youth is Mithun (22), son of Chennappa Poojari of Nettarakere. He was an employee of Sahyadri College at Adyar. It is learnt that Mithun  along with his  friends Karan, Nagesh, Rajaneesh and Nitesh  had  come to Kaikunje to enjoy a swim and had stepped into the water even before his friends, but  soon began drowning.

Sources said as none of his friends were good at swimming they could not rescue him. Locals later retrieved the body of Mithun.

Bantwal ASP Rahul Kumar, SI Nandakumar and others visited the spot. It is said that the erosion of soil near the railway bridge pillars here was the reason for the tragedy.
