Bantwal, Apr 20 2018: Following complaints from general public, the election officials and Bantwal Police have raided a co-operative bank branch at BC Road on April 19, Thursdy and have seized as many as 1,222 sarees stocked in eight bags. The value of the seized sarees has been estimated at round Rs 2.44 lakhs.
Meanwhile, Bank authoriteis have stated that the sarees were brought to be distributed to members of the Navodaya team of the Bank. Though sarees had been distributed at other places, elections had been announced by the time the sarrees were borught to the BC Road branch. The same were not distributed as poll code of conduct was in force, they said.
Nodal officer Rajanna has stated that further course of action would be decided based on the documents to be furnished by the bank authorities.
