Bantwal, Sep 05, 2016: Thieves who broke into a house at Guddeyangady near Panemangalore have decamped with gold weighing 43 sovereigns and a cash of Rs 40,000. The house belonged to a beedi contractor named Ismail. The theft is learnt to have taken place when the family of Ismail had been to a relative’s house at Taudugoli and came to light when the family returned on September 4, Sunday evening.
The thieves had entered the house by dislodging the roof tiles and opening the almirah with the help of the keys found under the bed.
Bantwal Police who visited the house, have also pressed finger print experts and canine squad into service. Police suspect that some local person might be behind the theft.
Investigations are underway.
