Bandh call in Padubidri on July 24

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, July 24, 2015:  A release dated July 23 from Sambhavya Santrastara Horata Samiti has called for a bandh in Padubidri town July 24,  to protest against the widening of the National Highway 66.

Bandh_It said that the government had issued a notice for widening the present highway road, which passed through the town. The widening of the present road would result in loss of land and nearly 200 buildings in the town.   These buildings included several business establishments and places of worship.

The government should stick to its original proposal of constructing a by-pass to NH 66 to the eastern side of the present highway in Padubidri. The proposal for construction of highway had been given up for political reasons.

Meanwhile, another group of people in Padubidri have been opposing the bypass and favours the widening of the existing highway.
