Mangaluru, July 15,2017 : The Supreme Court has upheld the bail granted to Naresh Shenoy, the prime accused in the RTI activist Vinayak Baliga murder case. Baliga’s father Ramachandra Baliga had earlier filed an appeal in the Court seeking cancellation of the bail to Shenoy on the grounds that this may help him influence witnesses in the case.
However, the Supreme Court’s two member bench comprising Justice Uday Lalit and Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel stated that there has been no incident whatsoever so far wherein the accused had influenced the witness ever since he secured bail ten months ago.
The Court however told the petitioner that he can approach the High Court seeking cancellation of the bail in case it was found that Shenoy had violated the conditions laid down by the Court while granting bail.
It may be recalled here that Vinayak Baliga was brutally hacked to death near his house close by Kalakunj in the city on March 21 last year.
