Mangaluru, Sep 1,2017: Bakrid, which is also known as Eid-ul-Adha or Eidul-Zuha, is being celebrated by Muslim brethren across the city on September 1, Friday with great religious fervour. The day is marked by special prayers, greetings and gifts.
The prayers are followed by feasts with family members, friends and relatives. The festival is being celebrated to commemorate the sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim and is also known as the festival of sacrifice for the Islam faithful.
Muslims in large numbers gathered at the Idgah Maidan on Light House Hill Road in the city and other mosques and offered Namaz on this holy day.
