BSNL employees declare two-day nation wide strike - April 21-22

Mangaluru April 20, 2015 :  BSNL customers be aware! Two-days of service disruption of assorted kinds is fore seen April 21 and 22.  Faults in mobile networks may not get  attended  and skeletal functioning of customer service centers that attend to services may suffer.  BSNL employees across India are set to  go on a two-day nationwide strike. 


BSNL employees for two-day nation wide strike  April 21/22 BSNL unions/associations of non-executives and executives have given a two-day strike call demanding that the union government and BSNL management take immediate steps for revival of BSNL and ensuring financial viability of the company. 


The unions have already served a strike notice to the chairman and managing director of BSNL, secretary, department of telecommunications and minister of communications and IT on March 12.

The District secretary, Sanchar Nigam Executives Association, Dakshina Kannada Telecom District told reporters here that the various unions of BSNL have been forced to go on strike after massive lunch hour demonstrations held on March 12 did not elicit any response from the authorities concerned. Employees also organized a ’Save BSNL Campaign’ holding circle level conventions and collecting signatures from people in support of their demands, he said.

Asserting that the employees of BSNL were not fighting for any individual benefits, he said they have submitted a 21-points charter of demands to the ministry and management seeking to revive the company and give them an opportunity to serve the people better. These include immediate procurement of equipment, compensation to BSNL for loss making rural services, financial assistance to BSNL to expand services, and no merger of BSNL and MTNL in metros.
