The government has gone back on its promise to hand over rights of Kumki land to farmers, he said. He also  recalled that the revenue minister of the state in a recent affidavit before the court had contended that farmers do not have right  over Kumki land.  Now, the government has left it to the Deputy Commissioners to decide on the issue, he said.

The state government needs to find a way out to  this problem, he said and alleged that the government has done nothing to solve the issue.

The BJP, he said will deal with the issue through awareness programmes and also through legal recourse.

He also charged the  Siddaramaiah government of failure to deal with the problems of sand mafia, cattle slaughter etc.

Nalin said the second phase of protest against Yettinahole  project would be taken up in the second week of February. Though the REC has given its nod, the project is yet to get forest approval, he added.

Pratap Simha Nayak, District  BJP President, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Lalaji Mendon, former MLA and others were present.
