Padmanabha Kottari, president of the DK district BJP, announced that BJP workers will be out on the roads to ensure that the central government hears the voice of the public. He said that the BJP wants the bundh to be a peaceful way of announcing to the central government that the people are not happy about the hike in petrol prices. He demanded to know why Indians have to pay such a high price for petrol when people of neighboring countries such as Bangladesh and Pakistan pay much lower prices.

Stating that people are tired of inflation, he said that the price of food and essential commodities is also going up. He said that the BJP will make sure that the central government gets the message.

Simultaneously, left parties along coastal Karnataka expressed their support for the nationwide bundh. Muneer Katipalla, DYFI leader, said that left parties will not impose the bundh on anybody, but will observe the day as a nationwide protest day. He also revealed the left parties’ plan to block trains at Mangalore Central Railway Station on Thursday at 9:00 a.m.
