BJP protests outside Mulki police station opposing arrest of ‘innocents’

Mangaluru, Jan 24, 2015: Several BJP workers staged a demonstration in front of the Mulki police station on January 23, Friday  demanding the arrest of those who were actually  responsible for the clash between two groups in Mulki. The police had arrested five persons namely Nithin, Ganesh, Hafiz, Imran, Fayaz and Niyaz in connection with the fight reportedly over a previous enmity.

However, addressing the protestors BJP leader Umanath Kotian alleged that the police had arrested two of the  victims of the assault  and have registered murder attempt cases against them. He further stated that if the assaulters were around 20 in number, the police have so far arrested only four of them. Even they are now out on bail, he added.

Meanwhile, Ramachandra Nayak, local police inspector assured the protestors that all the accused would be arrested following  which the BJP withdrew the protest.

Several party leaders including Kasturi Panja, Mohan Kubevooru, Sucharitha Shetty and Bhuvanabhirama Udupa were part of the protest.
