Bantwal, May 27, 2015: The new railway over-bridge was opened for traffic on a trial basis on May 26, Tuesday much to the relief of people, particularly motorists who are fed up with the frequent traffic blockades on this road. Meanwhile, the circle near BC Road bypass has also been cleared.
This measure follows the recent visit of Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim on May 23, Saturday to review the situation following complaints of frequent traffic snarls. The DC even held talks with PWD, revenue, highway and police officials to chalk out a plan in the best interests of the public.
The result was that the bypass circle was removed and traffic was allowed to move on the new railway over bridge on a temporary basis. Even the dividers have been removed. In fact, B.C.Road was clear from traffic chaos on Tuesday.
Some minor works on the over bridge including protective side walls are yet to be completed.
Meanwhile, it has been gathered that DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai will be holding a meeting to review the change in existing arrangements.
