B C Road, June 19: The stretch from BC Road Circle to Polali Cross will be blocked to facilitate the flyover construction at BC Road from June 20, 8:00 a.m. to June 21, 8:00 a.m. Deputy Commissioner V. Ponnuraj said in a press release that the four-lane project needs to be complete to prevent the formation of slush on the road. A number of organizations have also staged a protest by sowing seeds in the slushy road on June 16.

Vehicles that normally ply along the blocked stretch can take the following roads: vehicles going to Mangalore from Uppinangady and Puttur can take a left turn at Panemangalur Melkar Junction and reach Mangalore through the Konaje route. 


Vehicles heading to Mangalore from Dharmasthala and Bantwal can take a right turn at Melkar Junction and proceed to Mangalore through the Mudipu - Konaje road. All vehicles moving to Bantwal and Dharmasthala from Mangalore can first go to Thokkottu via NH17 and then take the Konaje - Mudupu – Melkar road. 


Vehicles moving to Puttur and Uppinangady can take the Konaje - Mudipu - Melkar to join NH48 and turn left to reach BC Road, Dharmasthala Circle, and return to NH48 to move on to Puttur and Uppinangady. Vehicles moving from Mangalore to BC Road can ply till Polali Cross and return. 


Only vehicles transporting essentials such as gas, vegetables, milk, food products, petrol, diesel, and passengers can move in Melkar, Mudipu, Konaje, and Thokkottu on June 20 - 21. 


Heavy vehicles are not allowed on the road. The ban does not apply to government vehicles, ambulances, and vehicles required for road repair.
