Azharuddin to inaugurate MPL 20-20 tourney at Panambur on Saturday

Mangaluru, Dec 16, 2016: The countdown has begun for the Almuzain Whitestone Mangalore Premier League 20-20 Cricket Tournament. The tournament will be inaugurated by former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin on December 17, Saturday at 4.30 pm at a colourful and grand ceremony at the B.R.Ambedkar Stadium, NMPT, Mangalore in the presence of a host of dignitaries from India and abroad.


The stadium is all set with natural turf at the outfield  and Astro turf in the pitch.   The matches will be held from December 17 to 30, day and night.   Lighting arrangements are being made by installing eight  lighting towers of 60 feet height around the ground.

The inaugural function will be followed by  entertainment programmes featuring Russian Fire Dance.  The Blitz dance troupe of Manipal which performed  at  Hippop Dance Championship at LasVeigus America  will also perform  here. Laser show and fireworks show will add splendour to the event.

An exhibition match between the team of   Coastalwood stars led by Arjun Kapikad  and the team of MPL organizers  led by Azharuddin will be held later.

 Live telecast :

The matches will be telecast live through V4U and Namma Kudla Local channels as well as through Youtube live streaming.  Matches played during  the last three days will be telecast through DD sports TV channel.  The Famecrick has made arrangements for live scoring through web.


Twelve Teams

The teams taking part in the tournament are Red Hawks Kudla, Team Elegant, Moodabidri, Kankanadi Knight Riders, Karavali Warriors Panambur, Karkala Gladiators, President Sixers, Kundapura, Maestro Titans, Spark Avengers Bolar, Coastal Digest, Surathkal Strikers, United Ullal and  Udupi Tigers.      These teams are now playing trial matches in Manipal and other grounds to give good performance.
