Atrocities against women in State out of control - BJP

Mangalore, July 22, 2014: The district BJP unit protested here July 21, demanding the State government to initiate measures to tackle essentially the uncontrolled atrocities against women and girls. Speaking to the protesters, former MLC Monappa Bhandary said that the negligence of the State government was visible in all facets of the State.

 

 

 

The law and order in the State has collapsed. Women and children have no protection in the State. Home Minister K J George is responsible for it and he must resign.  The fact, that there has been a spiraling of rape and atrocities in the State, that 1,030 rape cases and 1,836 kidnap cases have been reported in 2013. This year till the end of June, 525 rape cases, 2,357 atrocity cases and 1,522 dowry harassment cases have been reported. “Instances of crime against women and children have brought disgrace to the State. In spite of increase in instances of atrocities on women in the state, the state government has failed to take action against the culprits. The increase in crime has created apprehension in minds of women and children,” Monappa Bhandary said.

He said “Karnataka has no protection for land, cattle and women, who are  worship in Hindu culture. Those who have committed crimes have freedom,” he added.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who spoke on welfare of farmers did not flay police action on firing at farmers who were protesting.

BJP State Vice President Sulochana Bhat said that parents are scared to send their girl children alone. The government has failed to act against PSI who failed to file FIR in kidnap and sexual assault of a student, untill the BJP took up the matter. Former MLC Monappa Bhandary called for serious action by all concerned to bring matters under control.
