Ashraf takes on Poojari yet again

Mangalore, Feb 20, 2013: The brewing resentment between former mayor Ashraf and senior Congress leader and former union minister B Janardhan Poojari, resurfaced yet again. This time, it was during a press meet convened  by  senior Congress leaders including Janardhan Poojari  on February 20, Wednesday to announce the formation of an  election committee to select candidates for the forthcoming local body elections.

As soon as Ashraf realized that his name was missing in the committee, he raised objection. He charged that the committee has been formed arbitrarily without taking leaders into confidence. He wanted to know why his name was  left out despite him being a block unit President.  Ashraf also accused Poojari of being anti- Muslim.

 

 

Even the attempts of DCC Chief Ramanatha Rai to pacify Ashraf proved futile and finally MLA UT Khader took him out of the press meet venue.

Speaking to the media later, Ashraf said the party had left out his name and that of Nagendra of South block deliberately  and said he was of the strong view that only hard working party men should have a place in the committee.

He lashed out at Janardhan Poojari and  said the party cannot progress as long as leaders like him were in the party.

It may be recalled here that Ashraf had some time back criticized Poojari over a saffron row that cropped up in the party over the issue of new entrant entrepreneur Vijaynath Shetty wearing saffron clothes at party functions.
