Kundapur, Sep 17, 2016 : Police personnel from the DCIB teams in Udupi, Kundapur and Byndoor have headed towards Pune to elicit information about a gang of four thieves which was apprehended in Pune a couple of days ago. It has been gathered that gold and silver idols of deities weighing nearly 50 kg have been seized from them.
Sources said during interrogation the accused had mentioned the names of Saukur and Barkur temples in Kundapur.
It may be recalled here that the investigations into the cases of thefts in temples and houses at Udupi and Kundapur had made not much headway.
It is believed that of the four arrested in Pune, one person was from Karwar and another from Bengaluru.
Sources said the gang of thieves was operating from Karwar. More details awaited.
