The recruitment rally will receive the full publicity of the media and will be absolutely transparent, said the officer. The candidates will first undergo a physical fitness test, which requires them to run a mile, perform pull ups, jump across a 9ft ditch, and walk across a horizontal bar.

Out of 2000 candidates who had applied, 940 were chosen for future tests. The candidates will also have to undergo a written test and meritorious students will be enrolled into the army. Candidates will also be selected for the posts of soldier, technical operators, nursing assistants, and soldier clerks, adding that, although there is no fixed quote, all eligible candidates will be chosen.

The medical tests will be conducted by 3 doctors from different geographical locations. The failed candidates can have another medical test done at Bangalore, he said. The written examination will be held on July 25. Candidates are required to submit their SSLC, PUC, and nativity certificates. They must be over 165cm in height, he said.

Candidates with technical backgrounds will stand a better chance during the selection process. The candidates will also receive Rs 10,000 as salary throughout the course of the training and will be paid Rs 20,000 after selection. Besides, they will also receive free clothing, ration, accommodation, medical benefits, and free railway warrants, he informed.
