Mangaluru, Sep 12, 2015 : Speaking to media the project manager of Antony Waste Handling Limited rued that MCC - Mangaluru City Corpn.. has failed pay more than Rs 8 crore to the company for handling the waste management so far. After the company stopped service Sept 11, MCC commissioner assured Rs 3.5 crore later in the day. Services were restored at 2 pm, yet they have not paid. Collection and transportation of solid waste was only stopped. MCC paid only 50 percent of the bill in May and June, and in July it did not pay anything at all."
He also said that the company was compelled to stop the services because it did not have money to get fuel for the vehicles. When contacted, MCC mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred said that the contractor was not handling all the work allotted to it satisfactorily. Work like sweeping of roads and cleaning of drains is pending and MCC has the right to with hold payments.
Mayor stated that the company has even kept workers’ provident fund pending for three months even after MCC asked it to pay the same on September 7. This attitude will force us to make certain arrangements.
Responding to allegations on the provident fund of staff, company’s project manager said that it is only an excuse there is no reasoning.
How sad, The Antony waste collector’s are very prompt in collection and the MCC has to co-operate with them. Because the city sounds clean these day’s the credit has to go to them and not MCC.
The Mayor cannot be so irresponsible in making payments. If this is the case the public will once again start littering waste here and there.
What’s the problem with MCC? Why such amount is due?
