Moodbidri, Jan 12, 2015: Renowned painter Thota Vaikuntam was conferred the Alva’s Varna Virasat 2015 National Award at the valedictory of Alva’s Virasat held at Palace Grounds at Vidyagiri on January 11, Sunday. Dr M Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Educational Foundation presented the award to Vaikuntam.
The programme was earlier inaugurated by Sri Vidya Prasanna Theertha Swamiji of Subhrahmanya Mutt and Swasti Shree Bhattaraka Charukeerthi Pandithacharyavarya Swamiji of Moodbidri Jaina Mutt.
S Murugan, Mangaluru Police Commissioner, Prof, Ramananda Shetty, Dean of Nite University, Vishwanath Shetty, President of Mumbai Buntara Sangha, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President and others were present.
Varna Virasat an art camp of tribal and contemporary artistes held at the Vidyagiri Ratnakaravarni Vedike also concluded on January 11, Sunday. Veteran art critic Giridhar Khasnis from Bengaluru was the chief guest.
The participant artistes were presented certificates on the occasion by Dr Mohan Alva.
