Udupi, Sep 7, 2015 :  The alleged assault on  two students by the Malpe police in the lock-up triggered a protest  on September 7, Monday with students gheraoing he SP Office demanding action against the six police personnel who reportedly assaulted the students.

As already reported Sampath  and Awaiz were reportedly assaulted in the lock-up on September 6, Sunday after they allegedly spoke rudely and in a high handed manner with the police personnel who called Sampath’s mobile phone which he had purchased from an acquaintance, but was a stolen one.

The SP who was visibly agitated on seeing the students who were protesting by boycotting classes  questioned their action  and  said it would have been suffice if a few students arrived to submit memorandum.

He also assured to investigate the case thoroughly from all angles. Even the parents of the two students who had reportedly spoke rudely with the cops requested the SP not to file case against them   in the interests of their future.  It has been gathered that so far no case has been registered against the two students.

The protesting students dispersed following the assurance by the SP.
