Alcohol content in water cans supplied to Udupi Govt Mothers and Children’s Hospital

Udupi, July 27, 2019: In a shocking case, alcohol content has been reportedly detected in the water cans supplied to the Udupi’s Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Memorial Haji Abdulla Government Mothers and Children’s Hospital.

It has been gathered that the water cans were delivered to the hospital on May 13 by a person named Ajith. However as no label was found in three of the cans they were sent back while the other three cans were accepted by the Store Executive,. Of the two cans the water in the can with batch number 21/2017 was filled to the humidifiers in the hospital on June 4. The same day when a nursing supervisor and a nurse were making arrangements to fix a cylinder a few drops of water fell into their lands and the sensation was very cold. When they checked the humidifier they smelt spirit.

The water was then sent to a Bengaluru lab and the report has confirmed that the water had 53.43% alcohol content.

A complaint has been lodged in Udupi town Police station.
