Akshatha mysterious death case: Police gather vital clues Sources say at the outset this seems to be a rape and murder case and investigations are on in this direction. The  neck of Akshatha was found broken and there were scratch marks on her face.

Locals say the place where the body of Akshatha was found had acacia bushes and that   labouers engaged in NH works rest at this place during evening hours and are even spotted consuming ganja. There have even been occasions when some young pairs who arrive here by two-wheelers were issued a warning.

Though on June 17, Tuesday the day the murder took place, not many were seen in this spot as it was raining heavily, a local resident had seen a youth walking on the pathway  used by Akshatha enroute home from college everyday. The youth was once again spotted returning to Byndoor  through Yojana Nagar. That the girl was murdered at around the same time  has pointed the needle of suspicion towards the unidentified youth.

The bag an  umbrella of Akshatha were found near her body and  her churidar shawl was found tied to her neck. Another suspicion is that she might have been murdered elsewhere and the body dumped in the place. Meanwhile, it is said a person cannot do this task of carrying the body to the place all alone as it is a hilly area.

A holiday was declared to Byndoor College following the death of the student. Senior Police officials including IGP Amrit Paul have visited the spot. The IGP has said three police teams have been formed to trace the killer. The post-mortem has been done but medical report is not yet out, he said.

The body of Akshatha was placed at Byndoor PU College  for public to  pay their last respects and was later handed over to her family for the last rites.
