Mangalore, Aug 31, 2014: Reports detail that about 130 Haj pilgrims, the fourth group who were to board to Madina in two flights, were forced to wait for over five hours due to snags at MIA-Mangalore International Airport early in the morning. The Haj pilgrims were from different places and reported at the airport as per instructions of the Haj committee.
To begin with Air India officials said that the flight was delayed due to technical snags. The Haj committee said that Air India was responsible for the harrowing situation the pilgrims faced. It was stated the pilgrims could not contact elected representatives or any one. Air India officials gave vague information. There was a high degree of frustration from pilgrims and their families.
Air India said, the airline offered hotel accommodation to the affected pilgrims and there was lack of understanding about reporting for the flights.
