Advani’s yatra must not enter Mangalore - Poojary

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Oct 28, 2011: Speaking at a press conference held at Press Club today, B. Janardhan Poojary, the former union minister, said that L. K. Advani, the senior BJP leader, must not enter Karnataka with his Jan Chethana Rath Yatra.

Stating that Advani’s earlier rath yatra had the aim of constructing a Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, a goal that has not yet been reached, he said that Advani’s present yatra attempts to fight against corruption when even Advani does not understand the moral value of an anti-corruption movement.

Poojary

Recalling the time when Advani was the home minister of India, he said that Advani made headlines for allegedly receiving bribes from Laxman, who was then the minister, but no FIR was charged against him. Even after the demolition of Babri Masjid, no FIR was lodged against Advani and he wasn’t even forced to resign from his post, said Poojary.

Criticizing Advani, Poojary said that Advani has done nothing to strengthen the security of the country and urged Advani to mull over his own actions before throwing stones at other people.

Criticizing the RSS, he said that it is involved in terrorist activities in Malegaon, Pune, and Hyderabad, adding that although the cases are being investigated at present, no action has been taken against the organization. When churches and Christian institutions were attacked back in 2008, the government appointed the Somashekar Commission to investigate the matter and then changed the report as per its wish, he alleged and added that, if the government had any sense of moral value, it would have arrested the culprits involved in the attacks.

Continuing his tirade against the BJP government, he said that it has made history by sending former CM B. S. Yeddyurappa to jail. He pointed out that the former CM had protected corrupt ministers such as Katta Jagadish Naidu, Katta Subrahmanya Naidu, Halappa, and Krishnayya Shetty from going to prison.
Demanding to know if Advani has the courage to ask Home Minister R. Ashok to resign from his post, he advised Advani to conduct a CBI investigation on the entire BJP family. He said that the government has looted at least Rs. 1,21,000 crore from the people of the state.

He said that Advani must agree to remove Yeddyurappa from the BJP, dissolve the state government, and get ready for fresh elections before setting out on his rath yatra.

Harikrishna Bantwal, Mithun Rai, Arun Coelho, and others were also present.
