Mangalore, Oct 15, 2011: K. S. Eshwarappa, the state president of the BJP, said that the national level, anti-corruption Ratha Yatra undertaken by Lal Krishna Advani, the former deputy prime minister of India and BJP leader, will arrive at Mangalore on Oct 31 Monday. He was addressing reporters at a press conference held at Press Club on Oct 15 Saturday.

He further said that Advani will take the flight to Cochin from Bangalore on Oct 30 Sunday to round off his visit to Kerala before leaving for Mangalore. He will arrive at Mangalore in the morning, meet reporters at Circuit House, and will then address a public gathering on Central Maidan at 10:00 a.m., after which he will proceed with the Yathra to Udupi and will reach Karwar on Nov 1.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said on the occasion that Advani will be welcomed with a bouquet, adding that 1000 BJP workers from Belthangady will come to Mangalore in a padayatra and will participate in the public gathering. A total of 50,000 people will participate in the event, he added. Advani’s visit to Mangalore will be marked by rallies, meetings, and other events, he said.

Eshwarappa said that ministers insult each other in a bid to save their own face. Explaining his statement, he said that the BJP had already said that if the Lokayukta or the court sends a report against any minister, the government will ask the minister to resign and has already done so in case of several ministers, including CM B. S. Yeddyurappa.

Complaining of how ministers make allegations against one another, he said that almost every day ministers make allegations against one another. He also added that, in spite of allegations against Delhi CM Shiela Dixit and Home Minister Chidambaram, they have not resigned from their post.

Regarding load shedding, he said that the central government is not providing the required 1300MW of power to Karnataka. He said that opposition minister Siddaramaiah has complained that the BJP government has not produced a single MW of power in 3 years and urged people to remember that power production in Udupi and Bellary had stopped completely and the present BJP government is continuing it.
He further said that units will be established in Gulbarga, Raichur, and Bellary and an additional 6000MW of power will be produced at the units in Bijapur and Chattisgarh. He said that there are 8 units in Bijapur and of them 6 units are nearly 25 years old, owing to which new units will be established. He also said that the state lacks coal to produce electricity.

Criticizing Siddaramaiah, he said that the opposition minister cannot calculate the amount of coal required to produce electricity, adding that if such ignorant people become opposition ministers, Karnataka will never get any basic facilities.

Deputy Speaker N. Yogesh Bhat and BJP District President Padmanabha Kottary were also present at the press conference.
