Mangalore Today News Network

Udupi,  November 1, 2011 : Addressing a huge gathering at the Rajangana Parking Ground of Shri Krishna Mutt in Udupi on Oct 31 Monday, senior BJP leader L. K. Advani said that the union government must present a white paper in the winter session of the Parliament explaining how exactly it proposes to bring back black money stashed in Swiss banks. Advani had arrived at Udupi with his anti-corruption Jan Chethana Yatra on Monday evening.

Further speaking on the black money issue, he said that any black money brought back to India must be spent on the development of villages, not on cities. Flaying PM Manmohan Singh for making false promises of bringing back black money within 100 days of coming to power during the Lok Sabha elections of 2009, Advani said that the PM has done nothing about it so far.

Stating that over Rs. 25 lakh crore has been illegally stashed in banks abroad, Advani said that the BJP has decided to either force people who have deposited funds to voluntarily surrender the money or force the government to get it back from foreign banks. He said that the Swiss government has passed a law stating that it will disclose the names of account holders who have deposited money in Swiss banks.

Speaking about his anti-corruption movement, he said that the BJP had started its anti-corruption movement during the winter session of the parliament last year, forcing the government to order a joint parliamentary committee probe into the 2G Spectrum Scam of 2011.

Flaying the Congress, he said that the party is protecting its leaders who are involved in the scam by making scapegoats of its allies. Stating that the BJP has no sympathy for the allies, he said that corrupt people should be punished. Labeling the UPA government led by Manmohan Singh as the “most corrupt” and “most inefficient” government he has ever seen since Independence, he said that it features a number of scams, scandals, and massive corruption.

Speaking about the theme song of his yatra, he said that it is influenced by Mani Shankar’s film Knockout based on the black money issue. The yatra also has 3 major slogans—Bhrashtachar Mitayenge, Kaala Dhan Vaapas Layenge, and Bharat Desh Naya Banayenge.

Expressing his special affection of Karnataka, he expressed gratitude to all people who supported his yatra.

Advani’s Hindi speech was translated into Kannada by MP Ananth Kumar for the benefit of the gathering.

K. S. Eshwarappa, the state president; BJP national leaders Dharmendra Pradhan, Ananth Kumar, and Ravi Shankar Prasad; Dr. V. S. Acharya, the district-in-charge minister for Udupi; MP Nalin Kumar Kateel; Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri; MLAs C. T. Ravi, Raghupathi Bhat, and others; MLCs Capt Ganesh Karnik and Kota Shrinivas Poojary; Katapady Shankar Poojary, the Udupi ZP president; and many others participated in the event.

Later Advani visited the Shri Krishna Mutt to get a darshan of Shri Krishna Mukhyaprana.
