Mangaluru, May 25, 2015 : CPI(M) Mangalore City Unit Secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal alleged that Mumbai based company which has availed contract for waste management has not been carrying out the work properly even after payment of crores of rupees and there is large scale misappropriation of funds by City Corporation administration and the company. Panjimogaru residents staged a protest under the leadership of CPI(M) and DYFI, in front of Mangaluru City Corporation on Friday alleging misappropriation and mismanagement in waste management project.
Bajal said both BJP and Congress have ignored problems faced by people.
He questioned Union Minister B Janardhana Poojary’s silence when Congress lead City Corporation adminstration hiked self assessment tax in a steep manner, even though the party said it will not increase tax in its election promises.
Panjimogaru Ward Corporator ointed out that development works are lagging behind, following tussle between MCC Commissioner and corporators and crores of rupees are misused. No new works have been initiated as tenders are not sanctioned and contractors are not coming forward. Repair of street lights has not been taken up. Also, several important works have come to a halt in many parts of the city.
