ASHA worker’s humanitarian gesture wins praise

Udupi, July 24, 2020:    Rajeevi, an ASHA worker attached to the Pernankila Health Centre has won praise for   her humanitarian gesture in  ferrying a pregnant woman of her area to the Udupi government women and child hospital  at Udupi  right at 3 am on Thursday, by covering a distance of 20 kms and ensuring the woman had a safe delivery.

When Rajeevi received a call from the pregnant woman’s family members she immediately decided to help and drove  her autorickshaw to the house of the woman and escorted her to the hospital. The woman  delivered on Thursday itself and  the mother and child are fine.

Rajeevi who originally hails from Sullia is living in Pernankila since marriage. She works as an ASHA worker till evening and later drives one of the two autorickshaws which she owns. Her autorickshaw provides service to local women and ensures their safe return to home.

Incidentally she is the Swachh Bharath Ambassador of Pernankila Panchayat.
