Mangalore, July 26: Ravichandra Nayak, the tahsildar of Mangalore, says that those who have applied for APL ration cards within Mangalore will get them within 30 – 45 days. The tahsildar was speaking at the general meeting of the Mangalore Taluk Panchayat, held today. 


Further speaking on the issue of ration cards, he said that taluk offices are now well equipped with printers and computers, owing to which cards will be issued to applicants within 30 – 45 days.

He also said that 61.53 acres of land has been recently identified in 17 villages scattered across 49 Gram Panchayats for the purpose of distribution among those who are landless. The land is available in villages such as Bajpe, Moodushedde, Badaga Ekkaru, Thenka Ekkaru, Aikala, Elinje, Bellayaru, Thokoor, Kuppepadav, Kolavoor, Muthur, Muchur, Kilenjaru, Kompadav, Mallur, Edapadav, and Konaje. He said that he has directed village accountants and revenue inspectors to submit detailed reports after identifying available government land and kumki sites in 19 villages. 


Stating that beneficiaries who fail to construct houses within 3 years of obtaining the title deeds will be violating the act, he directed Medappa, the surveyor of Ullal, to mark boundaries of  sites where beneficiaries have failed to construct houses in Subhash Nagar, which comes under Munnur Gram Panchayat. 


Stating that title deeds have been sanctioned for 1935 within city limits, he said that 1816 of them have already received their title deeds, but 119 title deeds are still pending because the beneficiaries haven’t paid any land value. He also confirmed that no applications for title deeds in Moodubidri Hobli as per Section 94 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act 1964 are pending.

Bhavya Poojary, the president of the Taluk Panchayat, who chaired the meeting, said that show cause notices will be served on taluk level officers who were absent at the meeting. 


U. T. Khader, the MLA of Mangalore; Vishawanath Poojary, the CEO of the taluk panchayat; Vijayalakshmi Shetty, the vice president of the taluk panchayat; and Rajivi V. Kempumannu, the chairman of the social justice standing committee, were also present for the meeting.
