Mangalore Today News Network

2011 air india feb 13Mangalore, Feb 13: Air India has retrieved personal belongings such as clothes for a newborn baby, rosaries, handwritten letters, photographs, and so on from the wreck of the AI Boeing Express that crashed into the Kenjar Valley last year. The national carrier is now making attempts to find the owners of these items.

AI has already couriered a catalogue of items found to each family of the air crash victims so that they can identify them. Harpreet A. De Singh, the head of AI’s Quality Management Systems, stated that AI made a special effort to return almost every item retrieved from the site of the crash for the first time in India. He also said that AI hired Kenyon International, a US-based specialist in disaster management, to prepare a catalogue of each item retrieved from the site of the crash in Bajpe.

The Air India Boeing Express, bound from Dubai to Mangalore, crashed into the Kenjar Valley, killing 158 people on board and leaving only 8 survivors.
