Mangalore, May 29: Harpreet Singh, Head of Quality Management System, Air India Express has said in a press meet here on today that all the necessary support has been rendered to the families of air crash victims, that occurred at Bajpe Air port on may 22.

 



She was interacting with journalists at Hotel Gate Way on May 22. At first, she expressed her deep condolence to the air crash victims and then, she, thanked all the local people, who helped to shift the dead bodies to the nearest hospital, police department, District administration, revenue department and other local government bodies for their extended support at the time of air crash.

 

While explaining about the handing over of deceased body of air crash victims to their families, she said a total of 136 bodies, out of 158 bodies, have been handed over to their families very soon. Remaining unidentified bodies have been kept in mortuary as the families failed to identify the charred bodies.


Some of the families have made confusion, whether to accept the body or not. They have refused to take the body to their home.  The team of specialist doctors of the forensic laboratory, Hyderbad, led by Dr Madhusudan, which arrived in the city on Sunday May 23, had begun the task of collecting samples from the bodies of the victims for DNA test., popularly known as genetic examination.


While talking about the pilot, who also died on the spot, she said that the mortal remains of Capt Z Glusica, has been sent to his homeland for the last rites. Pilot Z Glusica’s body was flown to Delhi on Monday by 1.30 pm Mangalore-Delhi flight, from there his body was taken to England on the same day. Air India has also delivered its complete support to the families of Pilot Z Glusica. Out of four dead bodies of air India cabin crews, three bodies have been identified and returned to their families. But, one body is yet to be identified, she said. 


Soon after the crash, Air India has deployed its full emergency response team-"Angels of Air India" - at Mangalore. Besides the specially trained humanitarian assistance team, Air India has set up a local co-ordination centre at Mangalore, Bangalore, Calicut, Mumbai and Dubai for relief and rescue purposes. Though we have set a co-ordination centre at Calicut, Kerala, some of the families, from Kerala, have approached Mangalore co-ordination centre, without visiting calicut centre, she added 


Commenting on the interim relief fund, which was disbursed on May 28, she said ‘Rs 2.25crores have been kept aside as interim relief fund. For the first time in its history Air India gave interim compensation to the air craft victims. Air India has given the compensation to 28 families till now. The remaining families will receive compensation on June 3 and 4, she added.


When journalists asked about the fake pass port was found at the time of body checking, she confirmed that no fake pass port has been discovered till now and Air India has not received any message about fake pass port.
