AHINDA accuses state government of being anti Lokayukta

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Jul 21: Lolaksha, the president of AHINDA, told reporters at a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands that AHINDA condemns the state government’s action of tapping the phone lines of Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde.

Pointing out the fact that the Constitution gives each individual the right to dignity and privacy, he said that the state government has denied these basic rights to Justice Hegde. In spite of knowing that Justice Santhosh Hegde is the chief of the Lokayukta, the state government has insulted him by tapping his phone lines.

Lolaksha said that Justice Santhosh Hegde had revealed that certain BJP ministers and leaders including Dhananjay Kumar, Dr. V. S. Acharya, and A. G. Kodgi are trying to pressurize him to delete CM B. S. Yeddyurappa’s name from the mining report. Stating that the state government has been tapping the Lokayukta’s phone line for the past several months, Lolaksha accused the state government of being against the Lokayukta.

He further said that, as per the Lokayukta’s report filed on July 20 Wednesday, the CM and four ministers of the BJP are involved in illegal mining activities. All guilty persons must be removed from their posts, irrespective of their party, he added.

Urging that handing over the investigation to the CBI is essential, he said that this is impossible because the state government itself is guilty. He suggested that the central government must consider the matter carefully and expose all the guilty ministers.

Stating that CM B. S. Yeddyurappa has no moral rights to rule the state, he said that either the CM must resign from his post or the president must dissolve the present government.

Suresh Shetty, P. V. Mohan, Vasudev Boloor, Haneef, and others were also present.
