ADGP Bipin Gopalkrishna to investigate assault on students

Mangalore, July 29, 2012: Additional Deputy General of Police (law and order) Bipin Gopalkrishna arrived at Mangalore early on July 29, Sunday to investigate the attack on a group of boys and girls, who were having a party at Morning Mist Home Stay at Padil in Mangalore.

A large group of activists belonging to the Hindu Janajagarana Vedike (HJV) barged into the resort and began assaulting the boys and girls who were partying there. The girls were slapped, shoved, and even lifted forcibly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The HJV moral police stated that they were “protecting Indian culture” and accused the group of having a rave party. The students, however, insisted that they were celebrating a friend’s birthday.

Since the state government ordered an investigation of the case following severe criticism from the opposition parties, ADGP Gopalkrishna arrived at Mangalore and visited the resort to study the situation. Although he refused to reveal any details, he said that he will address the press this afternoon.
