ACB arrests Minorities Dept Manager, clerk on graft charges

Mangaluru, May 22, 2019 : The District Manager of Minorities Department Shridhar Bhandary and clerk Rahil were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths here on May 21, Tuesday for reportedly demanding Rs 10,000 bribe for handing over a cheque towards subsidy sanctioned by the Minorities Development Corporation.
The arrests were made following a complaint lodged by Sharath Pinto. The arrested duo have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
Complainant Sharat was sanctioned Rs one lakh subsidy towards setting up of an industry. However the accused demanded bribe of Rs 10,000. Sharat who agreed to pay Rs 7,000 complained to the ACB sleuths following which the duo was arrested.
DySP of ACB Manjunath, Inspectors Satish B S, Yogish Kumar and Mohan Kottari were part of the operation.
