A ’Smart’ convention hub for a ’smart city’: at Fr.Muller’s campus

Mangaluru, Mar 13, 2017: Mangaluru city is getting smart by the day, was the general spirit on the famous medical hub of the city on March 12, Sunday. A 1,750 seating capacity Muller auditorium and two connected super facilities part of the new ’Fr Muller Convention Centre’ seen as a truly smart hub was inaugurated with fitting fan fare.  Said to be a state-of-the-art unique centre of the Mangalore Diocese, the new centre is made up of : Muller Auditorium, Muller Dine and Muller Mini Hall, a fitting memorial to the founder Fr.Agustus Muller SJ, of German origin.

 

This futuristic convention facility covers a space of 38,750 sq ft, the auditorium has all needed amenities planned with care. State-of-art synchronised illumination and sound system is fresh. A mini hall, of 5,600 sq ft area can accommodate 500 people. The ’diner’, of 25,700 sq ft area, is linked to the auditorium and the mini hall. The centre also boasts of a landscape that gives a relaxed feel, express lifts, escalators, fire detection and emergency exits along with due security features is fitting. A parking facility for 700 cars below ground is tailor made. Bhagwan Mahaveer Junction (Pump-well) NH 66 is the entry/exit point. It will enhance the convenience as it is located in the middle the future centre of  developing Mangaluru.

Inaugurating the centre, Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bengaluru, said it would be Mangaluru city’s future popular facility. He commended the efforts of Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Mangaluru Bishop, and Patrick Rodrigues, director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions. The service providers were appreciated and felicitated.

This convention centre will be a focus of Fr.Muller’s institution and will serve needs  "for socio-cultural programmes but also for academic events"; upholds its motto of ’heel and comfort’. Fr Patrick Rodrigues is the master brain of this masterpiece. For more than a century God has held this institution and millions of people using it and the dedicated professionals who served and are serving it in His divine hands.

Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza and other dignitaries felicitated director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions Fr Patrick Rodrigues on the occasion.

Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza led the prayer service and blessed the convention centre. A special mass was earlier celebrated in the grand chapel of this institution to Thank God for His goodness over the years.

Vicar general Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Blossom Fernandes, wife of MP Oscar Fernandes and others among whom are administrator Fr Richard Coelho, Fr Vincent Saldanha, assistant administrator Fr Ajith Menezes, Fr Rudolph Ravi, Fr Roshan Crasta, Fr Sylvester Lobo. A huge gatjering of distinguished elite and public were in attendance.
