Mangaluru, Jan 09, 2021:     Shakthi Pre-School, Shakthi Residential School and Shakthi PU College, Shakthinagar, Mangaluru conducted the inauguration of a Month’s long street play-An awareness on Corona on 9th January at Customs Colony Dattanagar, Mangaluru.

The coronavirus pandemic has swamped the nations of the world and altered the speed, fabric and nature of our lives. As part of the global response to the pandemic, the citizens of many countries were having to stay at home. Physical distancing and isolation measures, the closure of schools and workplaces were particularly challenging for us, as they affected what we love to do, where we want to be, and who we want to be with. It is absolutely natural for each of us to feel stress, anxiety, fear, and loneliness during this time. COVID-19 has affected people’s social connectedness, their trust in people and institutions, their jobs and incomes.


The Faculty of Shakthi Group of Institutions came forward with a unique way of depicting all new experiences and the trauma that people and the frontline workers have undergone during this pandemic through a street play. The Health Club of Shakthi Residential School provided a platform for this project, which was inaugurated by Dr. Ashok H, the Nodal Officer for COVID 19, D.K.Dist. Speaking on this occasion he appreciated the task of the teachers and the precautions taken to present the same to the general public with utmost care. While analysing the statistics of COVID cases he said that the literate people were more ignorant and negligent than the illiterates. Protocols when followed accurately will definitely subside the risk he stated.


The Joint Commissioner of Mangalore Customs Joannes George C. IRS was the Chief Guest. The progress that is evident today is mainly because of our willingness to cope up with the situation, our friends and neighbours. The team work is vital to influence our living and our fight against the corona virus. He appreciated the care taken by the faculty in presenting themselves following all protocols.


Vanitha Prasad, the Corporator congratulated the team for their unique venture and conveyed her good wishes for this project and many more in future.


Dr. Jagadeesh K, Dist. Surveillance officer, Praveen Kandi, Customs Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh Chandra, Customs Assistant Commissioner, Yerri Swamy Customs Chief Accounts Officer, Sri Vinay Kumar and Sri Harish Gowda- the President & Secretary respectively of the Dattanagar Residents Association were the Guests of honour.


Dr. KC Naik the Administrator of Shakthi Education trust in his Presidential address prayed for a healthy and prosperous year 2021. He asked the audience to remain positive and do a little to make the world better by contributing to positive changes in their communities, families, or even themselves.


Ramesh K, Chief Advisor, Prakyath Rai, Institute Development Officer, Vidya Kamath, Principal, Shakthi Residential School, Neema Saxena, Co-ordinator, Shakthi Pre-School were present on this occasion.


The residents of the customs colony and Dattanagar appreciated the efforts of the teachers. Sharanappa, Kannada Teacher is the script writer and Director of the play. Muralidhar Kamath provided assistance in Music and direction. Sharanappa, welcomed the gathering, Premalatha, introduced the guest while Bhavyshri, proposed the Vote of thanks. Rekha Dcosta compered the show.
