58-year-old woman from Boloor tests positive for Covid-19; DK’s active cases rise to 8

Mangaluru, April 30, 2020:  Boloor area in Mangaluru city limits has been sealed after a 58-year-old woman has tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, April 30.


With this the total Corona cases reported from the district has risen to 22. The woman is confirmed to have contracted the virus from P-501.

P-501 was working as a helper in First Neuro Hospital at Padil on the city outskirts, where P-432, a septuagenarian stroke patient was admitted for treatment. She incidentally is the mother-in-law of P-390, the first patient to succumb to the virus in the district.

The district currently has eight active Covid-19 patients, while two had succumbed to the disease.  

District administration has declared Boloor and 100 meters surrounding area as an active containment Zone having a population of 640 including 12 shops and 135 houses. The containment Zone will be sealdown for next 28 days.

A buffer zone  having an area of five km around the containment zone  will  also have to face strict lockdown rules.  Bondel junction marks the east boundary, MCF- North boundary, Nethravathi River- South boundary and Arabian Sea-  the West boundary of the  buffer zone which has 16,350 houses, 1,275 shops and offices and 79,800 people.
