Mangaluru, Feb 09, 2018: The 4th Karnataka Bird Festival was inaugurated at Town Hall in the city on February 9, Saturday by DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai. The three day event has been organised by the Mangaluru Circle of Karnataka Forest Department and Karnataka Tourism Development Board.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the Bird Festival would be of great interest of bird enthusiasts. We have ample reserve forests for watching birds and the Bird Festival would be a great treat for nature lovers, he added.
Dr Sanjay Bijoor, Chief Conservator of Forests of Mangaluru Circle said as part of the Three-day fest there will be lectures by ornithologists at Pilikula, a cartoon workshop and a quiz. As part of the fest, arrangements have been made for the participants to go bird watching on a boat on February 11 when they can watch the birds in all splendour in their natural habitat.
Stickers, handouts on bird conservation and tourism map were released on the occasion by Rai.
MUDA Chairman Suresh Ballal presided over the function. B H Khader, Chairman of Karnataka Cashew Corporation, Chief Conservator of Forest Sridhar, and others were present.
Prior to the inaugural function, students took out an awareness jatha in the city.
